Rapper Iggy Azalea announced her new online crypto casino, Motherland, which will run on her memecoin MOTHER.
She revealed Motherland at the “Motherland Rodeo” event in Singapore during Solana Breakpoint. The casino will start in November and offer games like slots, blackjack, roulette, poker, live dealer games, tournaments, and sports betting.
Joe McCann, founder of crypto hedge fund Asymmetric and adviser to Motherland, said this casino reflects Azalea’s broader vision for her MOTHER memecoin. He emphasized her clear strategy for building the MOTHER community and increasing the token’s use.
McCann hinted at future plans for MOTHER holders but didn’t give details. He highlighted existing perks, like a 20% discount for holders using MOTHER at the US music festival Breakaway.
Three months before Motherland’s launch, Azalea also relaunched a telecommunications company, Unreal Mobile, offering mobile plans with discounts for MOTHER holders.
McCann rejected the idea that Motherland was part of Solana’s “memecoin casino” stereotype, stating Solana supports various projects unrelated to gambling.
He pointed out that while the memecoin trend gained attention earlier in the year, Solana refined the trading of these coins.
McCann explained that all cryptocurrencies function as memecoins to some degree, even calling Bitcoin the original memecoin due to its viral spread through the internet.
Despite Azalea’s efforts, her MOTHER token has struggled recently. Launched on May 28, MOTHER initially hit a $260 million valuation but has since dropped over 78%, with a current market cap of $56.6 million.
