Singapore changed the Casino Control Act

Singapore changed the Casino Control Act to allow cashless gaming at Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands.

Local reports state that the amendment does not cover cryptocurrencies. Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Minister for Social and Family Development, confirmed this exclusion.

The responsibility to approve main casino shareholders now rests with the Minister for Home Affairs, not the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA). Sun stated that this change aligns the integrated resorts with the government’s strategic goals.

She noted that the government approved these resorts for economic reasons, including job creation and boosting tourism.

Sun made these comments in response to questions from MPs Louis Ng and Sylvia Lim about casino governance.

Singapore also updated gambling laws, keeping casino entry fees for locals at S$150 (US$114) per day and S$3,000 per year.
